Public Policy Committee
The United Way of San Diego County is committed to taking positions, on a selective basis, on local, state and federal issues (i.e., legislation, laws, ordinances, ballot propositions, etc.), which have a direct effect on health, public safety and human care services in one of the established focus areas and/or the operations of the United Way of San Diego County or other non-profits in general.
The Public Policy Committee, in conjunction with the Board of Directors, will determine the appropriate level of action, which could include letters/phone calls to the author(s) of legislation or proposed bills expressing interest, contact with local officials expressing support or opposition, personal visits with selected parties involved in the legislation or proposed bill, mobilizing local efforts within the community to support our efforts, and contact with the media.
