The United Way of San Diego County 2007 Fire Fund and The United Way Southern California Wildfires Recovery Fund

United Way sees the long-term recovery from the recent devastation caused by the wildfires, as one of the most critical issues facing our community and one our donors want to address.

United Way of San Diego County will be administering two funds, The United Way of San Diego County 2007 Fire Fund and The United Way Southern California Wildfires Recovery Fund. These two funds will be administered by United Way of San Diego County and will allow individual donors, corporations and other entities flexibility in their giving options.

The money raised will help with long term recovery issues as well as short term needs.  Some needs we anticipate these funds will help address include counseling, medical services, vouchers for rent and utility assistance, but our volunteer committee will help ensure we are strategic and meeting the most pressing, long-term needs.

As we do with our Community Impact Model, we’ll assemble a volunteer committee of experts from throughout the region to identify the greatest needs and develop strategies that will help the people and communities affected by the fires.  These funds will provide assistance for long term efforts and will help pick up where immediate response efforts leave off.

These funds will place particular emphasis on long-term needs and solutions, not just a quick fix.

The United Way Southern California Wildfires Recovery Fund

The regional fund will help the counties affected by the recent fires in California.  Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties will all receive assistance from the Southern California fund.
