In late November, we said good-bye to United Way’s Commissioner of Plan to End Chronic Homelessness, Brian Maienschein, and his associate, Lance Wilmondt.
Next month, Brian will be sworn in to the California State Assembly in Sacramento as the Assemblymember for the 77th district, while Lance will stay in San Diego but function as Brian’s chief of staff.
Much was accomplished during their tenure, including the establishment of Project 25, which took San Diego's homeless individuals most costly to taxpayers—the frequent users—and provided housing and services to change their lives, and save money and resources. Now 36 people are now enrolled in the program, and none have dropped out.
We wish Brian and Lance the very best and know our work with them will continue. Click here to learn more about filling their shoes and joining the United Way family.
“I am very proud of our accomplishments, and grateful to everyone for their support. While I am excited about being elected to the Assembly, I'll miss the work, and the people, at United Way.” –Brian Maienschein
