When Mary Jo called 211 to schedule a free tax filing assistance appointment through the San Diego County EITC Coalition, she was worried about her mobility limitations and getting to the VITA site. To her surprise, the Coalition arranged a free ride service to her in-person tax appointment. Mary Jo, now in her third year receiving free tax services, shared, “This is a great free service. The reason I came over to the San Diego County EITC Coalition is that, in 2020, AARP stopped accepting tax returns. My preparer was able to pull up previous tax returns from prior years and was so helpful when I had questions. I will keep using the San Diego County EITC Coalition tax services every year.”
