Board Service Certification Inaugural Cohort

The Nonprofit Board Service Certification program is a partnership between United Way of San Diego County (UWSD) and The Nonprofit Institute at the University of San Diego that aims to develop the acumen of local professionals to offer their time and talent as board members for San Diego nonprofits. The inaugural cohort is generously sponsored by UWSD’s Women United affinity group, and will be offered to current or aspiring women board members who seek to advance their general board governance knowledge and increase their leadership potential.

Read Across America Celebration

Read Across America Celebration

During the week of March 2, United Way will host our annual Read Across America Celebration. Each year, companies and individuals from across San Diego County come out to read with local students to promote literacy and celebrate the fun and value of reading during the week of Dr. Seuss's Birthday! This year, in conjunction with our Centennial Celebration United Way is also introducing a region-wide donation drive to collect books for children in our area. Donate NEW children's books to our drop-off locations at Warwick's in La Jolla, any SDCCU branch, or our offices in Kearny Mesa. If you would like to sign up to volunteer as an individual or group, please click here. For more information on hosting a book drive with your company or organization, email
